Staff Accountant

Location: Memphis, TN
Department: Accounting & Finance
Reports To: Controller
Status: Full-Time, Exempt

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our growing organization. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end close processes, reconciling accounts, and ensuring the integrity of financial reporting across multiple affiliated entities. The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting foundation, excellent organizational skills, and experience working with intercompany transactions.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post daily and monthly journal entries.
  • Assist with month-end and quarter-end close processes.
  • Prepare balance sheets, income statements, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports.
  • Maintain and reconcile the general ledger and subsidiary ledgers.
  • Code invoices, set up new accounts, and balance accounts through trial balance.
  • Compile and analyze financial data, including cash receipts, expenditures, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
  • Reconcile multiple bank accounts and investigate discrepancies.
  • Manage and reconcile intercompany transactions and balances.
  • Review and approve online payment activity to support internal controls and fraud prevention efforts.
  • Support payroll processing, including tipped employee calculations.
  • Assist with new hire onboarding administration and employee record maintenance.
  • Partner with management to address employee and administrative matters as needed.
  • Provide backup support for accounting and administrative functions.
  • Perform additional accounting and business-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience.
  • Experience with intercompany accounting and reconciliations.
  • Working knowledge of QuickBooks or comparable accounting software.
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong decision-making and project management capabilities.
  • Experience working in a multi-entity business environment is highly desirable.
