Position Overview: The Senior Mechanical Engineer will work as mechanical design and/or analysis lead in interdisciplinary teams to develop new high-performance computing systems for edge environments.

 

Reporting Relationships:

The Senior Mechanical Engineer reports to the Engineering Manager. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Innovate and integrate liquid cooling for high-heat-producing electronics to meet industry or application environmental requirements.

  • Analyze electromechanical systems for design level environmental requirements compliance.
  • Lead qualification testing on prototype assemblies to verify environmental requirement compliance.
  • Work with component suppliers to source rapid proto hardware.
  • Creates prototype assembly instructions and working with technicians to build and test your designs.
  • Establish thermal and mechanical requirements for the heating and cooling in thermal management unit and interfacing with suppliers for respective development.
  • Establishing structural requirements for the shock & vibrational needs of computing systems in transportable environments and interfacing with suppliers for respective development.

 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Five (5) plus years of demonstrated experience in the field of mechanical engineering, with relevant experience on electrical or electro-mechanical devices, and liquid-cooled thermal management systems.
  • Relevant analysis and design experience in the areas of heat transfer, air-cooling systems, structural dynamics, and vibration isolation.
  • Understanding of vibration, heat transfer, material fatigue life, dynamics, statics, fluid dynamics, and thermal growth.
  • Experience with heat transfer through conduction, natural convection, and forced convection applications and related techniques for electronics in edge environments.
  • Ability to prototype structural frames, metal and plastic enclosures, and thermal systems to prove design criteria.
  • Experience writing and maintaining engineering specifications and procedures.
  • Previous experience in edge computing hardware design (preferred, but not required).
  • Passionate about user-centered design thinking, product architecture, and building excellent systems that scale well.
