Job Description

Senior Architectural Technologist / Construction Documents Specialist

Charleston, South Carolina

SM - ADS - 9140

Meridia Recruitment Solutions is pleased to partner with our valued client, an acclaimed design practice in Charleston, South Carolina, in the search for a highly skilled Senior Architectural Technologist / Construction Documents Specialist . Known for their thoughtful approach to high-end custom residential work, our client delivers projects defined by design excellence, technical rigor, and exceptional craft. Their studio integrates architectural vision with precision execution, resulting in homes that are both beautifully conceived and enduringly built.

Role Description

This senior-level, individual contributor position plays a pivotal role in transforming design intent into clear, coordinated, and buildable architectural documentation. Focused on technical execution rather than people management or client leadership, the role is ideally suited for a detail-oriented professional who thrives on producing precise, well-coordinated drawings that directly support successful construction outcomes.

Working as part of a collaborative project team, you will lead the development of construction documents, ensure coordination across disciplines, and elevate documentation standards across the studio. Your ability to visualize assemblies, resolve technical challenges, and ensure constructability will directly influence project quality, clarity, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the technical development of architectural drawings through Design Development and Construction Documents

• Produce consistent, accurate, and coordinated drawing sets suitable for permitting and construction

• Develop detailed architectural assemblies that reflect design intent, constructability, and long-term performance

• Coordinate with and resolve design conflicts between all involved disciplines

• Anticipate constructability challenges and propose well-considered technical solutions

• Support construction-phase documentation, including responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, and issuing clarifications

Collaboration and Studio Integration

• Work collaboratively within project teams led by Project Managers

• Partner closely with the Design Director to ensure faithful execution of design intent

• Provide technical insight to support clarity, accuracy, and schedule predictability

• Contribute to a culture of technical rigor through knowledge sharing and consistent standards

Your Qualifications

You are an experienced architectural technologist or technical designer who takes pride in meticulous documentation and thoughtful detailing. You bring seasoned judgment, a deep understanding of building systems, and a passion for translating design intent into precise, buildable solutions.

Your qualifications include:

• Degree in architecture, architectural technology, engineering science, or a related technical discipline

• A minimum of 10 years of experience producing construction documents for custom residential or comparably complex projects

• Proven expertise in building assemblies, construction detailing, and consultant coordination

• Proficiency in BIM-based documentation workflows (ArchiCAD preferred, Revit acceptable)

• Ability to visualize buildings clearly in plan, section, and detail

• High personal accountability, precision, and follow-through

What Success Looks Like

• Clear, coordinated, and buildable construction documents

• Reduced documentation-related RFIs and late-stage revisions

• Reliable delivery of documentation milestones

• Positive impact on project team clarity, efficiency, and predictability

Compensation and Benefits

• Full-time, exempt position

• Salary commensurate with experience

• Eligibility for performance-based bonuses

• Comprehensive benefits package in accordance with company policies
