Job Summary:
A leading organization in the life sciences industry is seeking a detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to support microbiological testing and laboratory operations. This position plays a key role in handling microbial cultures, supporting internal projects, and ensuring laboratory compliance with established procedures and safety standards.
Job Duties:
Handle and maintain microbiological cultures (bacteria and yeasts) using proper aseptic techniques and safety protocols.
Identify mixed cultures and escalate findings to appropriate personnel.
Perform microbial identification testing using the VITEK® 2 system; generate, review, and communicate results in a timely manner.
Support internal project requests, including culture preparation and lab setup activities.
Monitor laboratory instrumentation to ensure proper functionality and accuracy.
Complete and maintain documentation in accordance with SOPs and quality standards.
Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control activities.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the laboratory.
Coordinate and prioritize daily assignments independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Maintain a safe laboratory environment and properly wear required PPE throughout the workday.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related life sciences field.
Minimum of 2 years of laboratory experience.
Strong understanding of aseptic technique.
Experience with microorganisms, standard laboratory equipment, and good laboratory practices preferred.
Ability to learn and implement new laboratory techniques effectively.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Effective written and verbal communication skills in English.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-based environment.
Ability to wear appropriate PPE for extended periods during the workday.
