Job Description

Salary: $115,600 - 156,400 per year Requirements:

  • We require a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or a directly related non-U.S. equivalent.
  • We require 5 or more years of related professional experience, or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience.
  • We require at least 3 years of experience in Guidance, Navigation, and Control engineering.
  • We require experience or working knowledge of Vehicle Management Systems or other PID control design.
  • We require experience using Matlab/Simulink or MatrixX/Systembuild to model and simulate complex aerospace systems.
  • We require eligibility to meet U.S. export control compliance requirements as a U.S. Person, including U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
  • We prefer a Computer Science minor.
  • We prefer the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance, with an interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance required after start.
  • We require successful completion of our Conflict of Interest assessment process.
  • We require a Bachelors degree or equivalent as the minimum education standard.
  • We do not sponsor employment-based visa status for this position.
Responsibilities:
  • We define GNC mission requirements and ensure strong requirement quality, traceability, and verification from the system level down to components.
  • We perform design reviews, technical analyses, simulations, and component or system testing to deliver products that meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • We build and refine a complex, nonlinear, six-degree-of-freedom simulation model using multidisciplinary data such as aerodynamics, mass properties, and propulsion.
  • We develop, implement, integrate, and test vehicle models, controllers, and software using languages such as C, C++, FORTRAN, Python, and related tools.
  • We design guidance and flight control laws using modern linear control methods and supporting engineering tools to achieve performance goals.
  • We apply advanced nonlinear analysis to evaluate and improve control law performance.
  • We validate models against test data to enhance simulation accuracy and fidelity.
  • We create supplementary controllers, limiters, mode logic, redundancy management, and signal shaping to keep performance within flight envelope limits.
  • We collaborate with flight simulation and Vehicle Management Systems software engineers to integrate control laws into the operational flight program.
  • We define, analyze, and maintain air data sensor processing, CFD-based source error correction, and redundancy management.
  • We take part in DO-178B/C software verification activities.
  • We coordinate autonomous aircraft contingency management strategies across multidisciplinary teams and oversee software implementation.
  • We support desktop, software, and real-time flight simulations.
  • We assist with hardware-in-the-loop development and test execution.
  • We contribute to flight test planning and execution.
  • We work under general direction while delivering results across complex engineering efforts.
