Firewall Engineer

Pay rate $70 75/hr

Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and manage enterprise firewall infrastructure across on-premises and cloud environments
• Monitor and analyze network traffic to identify and respond to security threats, intrusions, and policy violations
• Develop, maintain, and enforce firewall rule sets, access control lists (ACLs), and security policies in alignment with business requirements
• Perform regular firewall audits, vulnerability assessments, and rule base reviews to ensure compliance and minimize attack surface
• Collaborate with network, security, and IT teams to troubleshoot connectivity issues and implement secure network segmentation
• Maintain documentation for firewall configurations, change management processes, and incident response procedures
• Evaluate and recommend new firewall technologies, tools, and best practices to continuously improve the security posture

Qualifications:

• 3 5 years of experience managing enterprise firewalls (e.g., Palo Alto Networks, Fortinet, Cisco ASA/Firepower, Check Point)
• Strong understanding of networking fundamentals - TCP/IP, VPNs, NAT, routing protocols, and DNS
• Familiarity with zero-trust architecture, network segmentation, and micro-segmentation strategies
• Experience with SIEM tools and log analysis for threat detection and incident response
• Relevant certifications preferred (PCNSE, CCNP Security, NSE, CCSA, or equivalent)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to respond effectively under pressure
